Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their honor.

Presidential Call

The president stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed journalists. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”

Community Support

Attendees came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Government Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The event caused the government to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
