Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the forty-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.

The motive behind the attack has not been established and no arrests are in custody, police said.

The Fatal Incident

Authorities said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a premises near the city center landmark.

He had devoted time at the site supervising the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, according to reports.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," an official report stated.

Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but fell down across the street.

Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.

Key evidence, like spent shells, were recovered from the crime scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to contact them.

"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to determine their destination," stated a police chief.

In a release, the channel he worked for said Stock was known for his magnetism, approachability and quick humor, adding that his influence "will endure".
